Skill training is the basic need for persistence of handicrafts tradition of the State. Keeping in view of the same, SIDAC is engaged in imparting craft training courses for the artisans. It is a way to help the artisans understand the craft skill in a structured manner so that they will be eligible for wage employment in firms engaged in handicrafts production or can be self-employed. At the same time such courses intended to increase the awareness level of the trainees regarding changing market scenario, marketing scope, new designs, export ideas etc. Training programmes further create a higher-level skill base which will help in preservation of the craft tradition of the state and to take forward to the next generations.
At the State level, the training is being imparted at Handicrafts Complex, Gandamunda, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar. There are three district level training centres at Kenduvilwa of Khurdha district (Pattachitra) , Athagarh of Cuttack district (Pattachitra), Konark of Puri district (Stone Carving).
